Welcome, Geek!

San Francisco and the Bay Area are one of the most dynamic business areas in the world. New start-ups and their next big ideas are springing up every day, most of them die just as quickly, just to be rejuvenated with a new twist, and every once in a while a new member of the billion dollar Unicorn Club is created.

As the Silicon Valley's businesses come and go every day, so do the people from all over the world.

Venture capital keeps flowing in and out in bubbly waves, major corporations use the unique environment to spread innovation around the world, and everyone enjoys the all year round mild and by any means 'good' weather (at least south of San Francisco). 'The City' and the southern counties of the Silicon Valley, cornered by the rough shores of the Pacific and sided by lush Redwood forests, and a daytrip to some of the world's oldest and most famous National Parks offer its inhabitants a vast set of unique activities, culture and lifestyle.

No matter what drives you here, this site should help you to get settled by sharing our experiences we gained during our own recent moves from Europe to the Bay Area. Therefore, some of the content applies specifically to foreigners moving to the US from overseas.

Please browse through the categories on the right and get in touch with us if you are missing anything or to tell us what you think.
